1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of government. It does not store official records, perform an official background check, retrieve a case file, or submit paperwork for a user.

Its content directs readers to the Barry County Sheriff's Office, the 56B District and 5th Circuit courts, Michigan State Police CJIC, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs qualifying public-body records, while MCL 28.243 addresses criminal-history reporting and dissemination. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Every user agrees not to:

• Use a bot, scraper, or other automated process against the pages

Barry County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not produce a consumer report, credit report, or official background check. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for regulated screening. Data from the site or a linked tool must not be used to:

• Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
• Evaluate a housing or rental application
• Make a hiring, firing, or other employment decision
• Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
• Carry out any other activity governed by the FCRA

Any legally permitted regulated check must be obtained through an authorized, FCRA-compliant process. Michigan State Police CJIC provides official Michigan criminal-history channels but does not turn this private site into an approved screening service.
